Diogo is from Lisbon, having played in all youth categories at the highest level up to the national first division under 19 for Belenenses FC (Portuguese Super League team) He was scouted by Atlético Madrid and had the chance to become a professional player but opted to continue studying instead having completed a University degree for translation in the Nova University in Lisbon.
Diogo began his coaching career in 2008 as an assistant until he took his UEFA C license, and became head coach in 2009 for Carcavelos SC under 14. From 2010 until 2014 he worked at the Sporting Lisbon Academy having coached players who now play at the highest level in leagues such as La Liga and Premier league. He was also assistant coach for Vilafranquense FC winning the under 19 Portuguese second division. He took the UEFA B license finishing second best in the class.
Diogo moved to California in 2015 and has worked for LFC academy for 2 seasons before moving to Force North where he worked with most of the age groups for almost 3 years.
